Author Guidelines

All manuscripts must be submitted via the online portal at www.actapulmonologica.or.id

  • Originality: Manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously, and are not currently under consideration by another journal. A similarity check (e.g., Turnitin) will be performed upon submission.
  • Language: All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise US English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts proofread by a professional editor.
  • Compliance: Manuscripts must adhere to the ICMJE "Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals."
  • Editorial Authority: The Board reserves the right to edit for style, clarity, and format. Manuscripts with significant linguistic or formatting errors may be rejected or returned for revision.
  • Peer Review: All submissions undergo rigorous peer and editorial review.

  • Original Articles (Basic, Clinical, or Community Research) (ORI)
  • Case Reports (CAS)
  • Review Articles (REV)

 

Required Documents for Submission

  • Completed ICMJE Conflict of Interest forms for all authors.
  • Formal Cover Letter (including statements on prior presentations or redundant publication).
  • Copy of Ethical Approval (if applicable).
  • A Final Checklist signed by all authors.

 

Study Ethics & Informed Consent

  • Institutional Review: Any study involving human subjects or animal experimentation must include a statement of approval from an independent ethics committee.
  • Patient Privacy: In accordance with global data protection standards, all identifiers (names, birth dates, medical record numbers) must be removed.
  • Visual Data: Patient faces must be blurred; eyes should be concealed with black bars. De-identification is required for all diagnostic imaging (CT, X-ray, Ultrasound).
  • Consent: Written informed consent for publication is mandatory. If a waiver was granted by an ethics committee, the official waiver letter must be uploaded.
  • Clinical Trials: Must be registered in a public database (e.g., gov or WHO ICTRP) prior to the start of the study. The registration number must be listed at the end of the abstract.
  • Systematic Reviews: Registration with PROSPERO is strongly encouraged before data extraction begins.

 

Formatting

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12pt.
  • Spacing: Double-spaced throughout.
  • Margins: A4 paper size with 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides.
  • Page numbers: Placed at the bottom right of each page.
  • File Naming:  (First Author’s Surname)-(ORI/CR/REV).docx

 

Manuscript Structure

  • Order: Title Page (submitted as a separate file for double-blind review), 2. Abstract and Keywords, 3. Main Text, 4. Conflicts of Interest & Funding Disclosures 5. Acknowledgments, 6. References,7. Tables, Figures, and Legends
  • Title Page
    • Title: Concise and informative (max 20 words); capitalize each word.
    • Running Title: Max 140 characters including spaces.
    • Author Details: Includes the full title, author names, affiliations, and the corresponding author’s email.
  • Abstract
    • ORI: Structured (Background, Method, Result, Conclusion) – max 250 words.
    • CAS/REV: Unstructured – max 150 words.
  • Keywords: 3 to 10 terms, separated by commas.
  • Main Text
    • Original Article: Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion(IMRAD)
    • Case Report: Intro, Background, Case Description, Discussion, Conclusion
    • Review: Intro, Literature Review, Conclusion

 

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and Figures must be numbered consecutively (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1) and cited in the text.
    • Tables should be editable (not images) with a descriptive title above.
    • Figures must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) in JPEG or TIFF format with captions below.
  • It is recommended to limit the combined total of tables and figures to six.
  • If using previously published material, authors must provide written permission from the copyright holder.
  • Large datasets, videos, or extensive appendices may be submitted as supplementary materials.

 

Disclosure and Funding

  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must declare any financial or personal relationships that could inappropriately influence their work. If none exist, state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."
  • Funding: Specify any sources of financial support for the research.
  • Acknowledgement: Recognize individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship.

 

References

  • Style: Follow the Vancouver
  • Citations: Use Arabic numerals in superscript following the order of appearance.
  • Management: Use of software like Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is highly recommended.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
